My husband and I began negotiating the special education channel for my two children in 2002. My oldest requires a modified education due to diagnoses of Asperger's Syndrome and Tourette's Syndrome. My youngest has been diagnosed with ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I have had great success working with two different school districts where special services like, social skills training, speech therapy, organizational skills and communication skills, continue to be necessary for my oldest from year to year. My youngest does not receive services but has benefited from the knowledge I have gained and the working relationships with the teaching staff and school administration.

I have been providing support, resources and education to families since 2003. My focus is to show families how to collaborate with their district through advocacy. By providing the same understanding and encouragement through their journey that I was shown in the beginning of mine I give families the tools and resources to ask for the best Free Appropriate Public Education that their child deserves.
