I have served in many community and civic organizations, committees, and advisory boards. In 1993, while a volunteer with the PATH PROJECT (Parents Assisting Texans with Disabilities), I co-founded a parent support group (HAND-IN-HAND) for parents of children with special needs. Due to my volunteer efforts with PATH and other groups, I was chosen as one of the 1997 PATH Volunteers of the Year for the state of Texas.

I am presently serving part-time as the Regional Coordinator for Partners Resource Network Inc., PATH Project Regions 6 & 7. My responsibilities include training, information, referral, resources, consultation, and emotional support.

Thought for the day: Take one day at a time, one step at a time. Fears of the future can be immobilizing. Living with the reality of the day which is at hand is made more manageable if we throw out the “what ifs” and “what then’s of the future. Even though it may not seem possible, good things will continue to happen each day. Worrying about the future will only deplete your resources.
